Christopher Abbott and Julia Garner Are Taking on the New “Wolf Man”

In the thrilling world of horror, Blumhouse Productions has gifted us with another tantalizing treat: ‘The Wolf Man.’ Directed by Leigh Whannell, the mind behind the spine-chilling ‘Invisible Man’ (2020), this film is already barking up the right tree with its cast. Christopher Abbott and Julia Garner, both of whom were in the 2011 film Martha Marcy May Marlene, are poised to bring fresh energy to the genre. Sam Jaeger is also joining the cast, as well as child actor Matilda Firth, playing Abbott and Garner’s 10 year old daughter Ginger.

With Whannell at the helm, who by the way wrote the screenplay for the original ‘Saw’ in 2004, it’s bound to be a mix of fright and delight, packed with witty dialogues, intense performances, and perhaps a few surprise cameos (we’re looking at you, silver bullet!). As Abbott, Garner, and Firth navigate their complex roles in this re-imagined classic, with a family twist, it’s been reported they did an amazing job bringing the new Wolf Man to life in all it’s terrifying glory. There’s not just scares in this one, but tears as well. From what’s been said on social media, the movie packs a very big emotional punch to the gut along the way. The story revolves around a voluntarily displaced family, already in crisis, relocating to try putting their lives back together. If that wasn’t enough for them to deal with emotionally, throw a monster in the mix and things can only get worse, even deadly.

There have been a few fan complaints regarding the werewolf design, but that will of course be a subjective opinion. The good news is that the early buzz on X, from those lucky enough to have previewed the movie, is that it’s intense, terrifying, and an excellent horror movie from beginning to end. Can’t wait to see this one, and judge that for myself!

Wolf Man is scheduled to be released in the United States on January 17, 2025. It was previously scheduled to be released on October 25, 2024.
