The guy who set them free probably à woke liberal……
This story is powerfully good. Triffids are the perfect danger. Easily underestimated and deadly. The blindness is the main hook that makes this story so scary. The original movie from the 60s was shorter and the story was more apocalyptic. The pace was fast and there was no hope until the very end & a common weapon was found. A Solar flair like that would be a global EMP & wipe out all electricity and electric devices, including cars. The deep underground bases might survive. Depending on the size of the flair, (x50 to, x1000) there could be catastrophic storms, tides and earthquakes.

I watched the original in the theater and had the movie poster on the inside of my bedroom door. My big sis was dating the asst. manager of the theater, I had a bunch of cool posters but Mom tossed them all when we moved.
