As long as I can remember, I have been a huge fan of horror movies, and everything involved with their creation. The who, what, when and where of it all intrigues me. I was born a few years after the golden age of horror (1931-1946), but many of the top actors and directors that emerged during that time, brought us Frankenstein, Dracula, Wolfman, the Mummy, and the Invisible Man. Those were my original movie hero’s and the “Freddy Kruger, Michael Meyers, Jason Voorhees, and Pinhead’s of my day. My fascination begins with the people that create them, includes the actors who play their roles, and covers all the processes in between that give each movie a life of its own. While I do not consider myself a movie critic per se, like art, I do know what I like and what draws me completely into the experience.
“Daywalker’s 2 Cents” explained…
I’ve never been one to sleep with the lights on, check under the bed or close closet doors, but on rare occasion a movie will touch my psyche and give me pause. Those are the rare gems that I love to find. Those are the ones I want to share with you. That being said, I also want to share those smaller gems that don’t try to be more than they are at face value. The ones that will grab your interest, keep you entertained, and have those elusive rewatchable qualities. I watch movies late at night and with my very active lifestyle it takes a good one to keep me awake and engrossed until the end.
I always look for a good balance of all the elements below:
Cinematography
Continuity
Sound
Acting
Storyline
Horror movies are meant to be entertainment and a simple escape from the reality in which we all live. They don’t have to be Oscar-worthy to accomplish their goal. So once again, not a critic, just trying to sort the diamonds from the rough. I don’t review movies, just give you my 2 cents for what it’s worth.
I’m not going to break down every little negative detail about movies. What I will do is give you the positives and my reasons why I liked it and why I feel you should give the movie a shot. Your mileage will vary, and we can open a narrative about the movie’s merits or lack thereof if you like.
I do have plans for the future so EUDS will undergo edits and incarnations over time. I do hope you enjoy the site and I’m always open to suggestions should you want to share them. I’m also looking for guest authors and contributors as well.
The one thing I will not tolerate is political or religious discussions or references of any kind, so BEHAVE. This is a peaceful place for all to come and I expect you to show due RESPECT to EVERYONE at all times. There is too much violence and negative, unfounded rhetoric in the real world so let’s leave it there. This is a Horror/Sci-Fi/Fantasy website and that should be all that is discussed should you chose to comment or join in discussions. Negative BS or disrespect will not be tolerated…END OF STORY!
Don’t let the name of the site fool you. There’s nothing EVIL going on here. Picked the name close, but not exact, to a beloved horror franchise as a tribute to their legacy. While Horror is my main focus, I do include Sci-Fi and Fantasy as well. The ultimate is a combination of all, with a little humor thrown in the mix. I have recently added a category for paranormal, extraterrestrial, and cryptids to the mix, so I do think you will find a little something for everyone here.
Thank you so much for stopping by. Hope to get to know a few of you over time. Be Safe Always!
Respects, Daywalker
